Please visit my ebay shop for more brooches. LEA STEIN JEWELLERYLEA STEIN was born in Paris in 1931 and married Fernand who was a chemist. He discovered a process of laminating layers of celluloid with various other materials, i.e. fabric, lace, straw etc. and from this Lea started designing jewellery and accessories. She began with buttons and moved on to brooches, necklaces, earrings and bracelets, as well as mirrors, combs and photo frames. Her designs include cat and dog brooches as well as other animal and birds.She ceased trading in 1981 due to competition from China but started again several years later. As well as releasing some of her vintage pieces she produces a few new designs each year. The latest ones are the frog and a bee. LEA STEIN jewellery has become highly collectable in countries all around the world. All the brooches I sell have the 'V' shaped pin on reverse signed 'LEA STEIN PARIS' unless otherwise stated.  MARIE-CHRISTINE PAVONEMARIE-CHRISTINE PAVONE produces her whimsical jewellery from her workshop in Paris. They are made of Galalith, one of the oldest plastics, discovered in 1897. It cannot be moulded but each piece has to be sanded and carved by hand before being polished in a drum. They are then finished by hand-polishing and often handpainted details. Many of her designs are cat brooches which are actually based on cats she has known. She other designs include dog, birds and animal brooches. When ripe the nuts are gathered and dried for a period of up to 2 years by which time they become very hard. It can then be cut and dyed and fashioned into beautiful jewellery.All the tagua jewellery on my web site comes from Fair Trade sources using natural and sustainable materials. This provides opportunities for Colombian artisans to expand beyond their local markets and improve their quality of life. Each piece comes in it's own pouch with a card explaining how it's made and where it comes from.  |
